Roam is a Tesla day-trip planner. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, where it lives, and how to delete it. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Account info— if you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile photo. That's what identifies your account.
- Your trips & preferences — the trips you plan, places you save, and profile settings (your car, taste tags, home city, battery reserve).
- Basic usage analytics — anonymous, privacy-friendly page-view metrics (via Vercel Analytics). No cross-site tracking, no ad networks.
We do not collect payment details, precise background location, or your contacts.
Why we collect it
To build your trips, remember your preferences, and sync your data across your devices when you're signed in. Analytics help us understand what's useful and fix what isn't.
Where it's stored
Your account data is stored in a managed Postgres database (Neon) and mirrored to a key-value store (Upstash) for fast cross-device sync. The app is hosted on Vercel. If you're signed out, trips stay only in your browser (localStorage) on that device.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We use a small number of service providers strictly to run Roam:
- Google — sign-in, and place details when building trips.
- An AI provider (e.g. Anthropic / OpenAI) — to generate trip suggestions from your preferences.
- OpenStreetMap & Wikimedia — maps and place photos.
- Vercel, Neon, Upstash — hosting, database, and sync infrastructure.
Deleting your data
You're in control. From your profile:
- Reset all data clears everything stored in this browser.
- Delete account permanently removes your account and all associated trips, saves, and profile data from our servers. This cannot be undone.
Children
Roam isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
